Kristi Vidal is a Licensed Psychotherapist in the state of Florida. She has over 10 years of experience providing therapy to individuals, couples, and families. Kristi began her career working with adolescents with addictions and co-occurring disorders. After becoming licensed to practice independently, she became the supervisor of an outpatient treatment program where she developed the program from the ground up. She completed substance abuse evaluations, group therapy, contract and program compliance with quality standards, and supervised a team of therapists. She has also worked in non profit programs as both a therapist and a supervisor. Since 2013, Kristi has practiced independently at a private practice in West Palm Beach.
Kristi's treatment approach focuses on the recognition that we cannot change those around us or the circumstances that life hands us, however we can change our own reaction to those things. By focusing on self awareness and change we are able to manage symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and addiction. Basically, by changing the way we think, we are able to change the way we feel. Additionally, by utilizing interventions to reduce physiological responses to the things that trigger us, we are able to develop a sense of control over our own bodies and how we respond by re-wiring neural pathways. In doing this, we are better able to manage our anxiety and trauma response when it manifests with physiological symptoms.
When working with couples and families, Kristi believes that many of the challenges lie in the way we communicate with one another. By changing the way we communicate with our families and significant others, we are typically able to improve our relationships.
